Job Purpose:
The Sarnia Riding Club provides members’ families, adults and children with year-round athletic, recreational and social programs in a unique lakeside setting. The Recreation and Events Coordinator (REC)plays a key role in the members’ experience.
The REC shall be responsible for all Member programming and coordination of events held at the Club. The REC shall oversee the management of all programs to ensure coordination across the departments, as well as coordinate events with the Food and Beverage Coordinator, Caterer, Staff and SRC Client.
Qualifications:
- College level diploma in recreation or events coordination, or equivalent
- Computer skills in MS Office
- Previous related experience an asset
- Aquatics knowledge and background is considered an asset
- Certified Pool & Spa Operator is considered an asset

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Recreation & Event Coordinator shall:
· Be an integral member of the management team, demonstrating organization and leadership skills.
· Foster the dynamics of a welcoming private club environment. This includes interacting with the members on a regular basis.
· Ensure members, non-members adhere to SRC policies & procedures
· Receive and respond to general inquiries regarding the SRC membership and hospitality services including providing club tours when appropriate and booking of events.
· Promote and sell the SRC to hospitality customers and corporate clients and promote the benefits of membership to the existing membership and the general public.
· Prepare and issue the monthly newsletter and membership communications, including managing the SRC website and social media.
· Be responsible for hiring, training and the direct supervision of all program (tennis, squash, pool and day camp) employees, in accordance with SRC policies and procedures determined by the Board of Directors
· Performance management, including monitoring staff performance and providing feedback
· Coordinate the scheduling of all programs, including planning activities throughout the calendar year, to maximize the value of a Club Membership.
· Coordinate events such as weddings, corporate dinners and meetings, or special occasion celebrations with the SRC Client, event vendors, Food and Beverage Coordinator, and Caterer.
· Develop, maintain and document operating procedures for the program areas and REC role
· Provide pertinent information to assist in budget development for each of the program areas and cost monitoring of actual results.
· The REC shall attend Board of Directors meetings upon request. Prior to each Board of Directors meeting, the REC shall provide a written summary of the activities and significant events of the SRC operations they oversee.
· Attend meetings with the Executive Director, caterer, and committee members as necessary
· The REC will perform other duties generally consistent with the role and position as directed by the Executive Director from time to time.
