About the Position:

You will include True North's element of culture and passion in your interactions with guests which creates a rich and meaningful dispensary experience. Budtenders are required to stay informed about latest products as well as the legal system's requirements.

Budtenders will provide guidance and educate customers about cannabis products, so all True North's guests will have a safe and enjoyable cannabis experience.

This is a temporary position from March 2024 to November 2024


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing day to day operations of their store
  • Supervises all staff, ensuring that everyone follows all company service standards and meets all federal/provincial regulatory standards
  • Lead by example and possess the ability to inspire and motivate those around them to be the best team members possible
  • Ensure that shift needs are met in the event that any staff member calls in sick, or is a no show by immediately contacting other team members, other near by stores and/or General or Regional Manager
  • Analyze the business needs, create and implement a plan of action that accounts for the fluctuation in traffic throughout the day
  • Processing sales and all types of payments at POS terminal as needed
  • Supports the sales floor by processing sales as required by business levels
  • Serves customers in a friendly and professional manner, setting an example for all staff
  • Answers all customer questions and resolves all concerns/complaints in a satisfactory manner
  • Issuing receipts, refunds & exchanges per company approved standards
  • Overseeing cash-out and cash skim process of budtenders as required
  • Verifying all cashiers’ deposits for accuracy
  • Ensure POS transactions and end of day cash reconciliation is accurate and follow-up with any discrepancies
  • Maintain an efficient standardized back of house lay-out to maximize filling efficiency, ease of re-stocking, ease of inventory counting and control of shrink
  • Ensures that backroom inventory management are to standard at all times
  • Conduct weekly and monthly inventory audits utilizing appropriate form and explain deficiencies
  • Demonstrates product knowledge, willingness to learn and train other team members new industry trends and products
  • Leads merchandising effort in the store by ensuring all displays are clean, well-lit and attractive and communicates with a brand reps if there are any opportunities
  • Review and update product displays to ensure the customer experience reflects available product and sales priorities
  • Research competitors and propose product investments based on store sales trends
  • Assists in planning and execution of store sales, pop-ups, product launches, community events and staff functions
  • Assists in enforcing all loss prevention policies and reporting any inventory shortages and overstocks
  • Oversee and assist with the financial process and cash handling for the business
  • Inform the team about promotions, new products and up-sales opportunities
  • Manage customer relations and any customer retention programs (loyalty, sales, promotions, social media, and etc.)
  • Creating and overseeing the schedule ensuring labour budgets are followed, approve timecards and time off requests
  • Ensure exterior of store, and customer entrance area are clean and presented as new everyday
  • Maintains confidentiality in all matters pertaining to TNCC business and its operation
  • Oversee performance and development of team members, preform progress reports, assign progressive discipline
  • Lead the team with positive coaching reinforcement and continuously provide feedback to upper leadership
  • Performing the onboarding and train new employees in all aspects of their role
  • Following up on training to ensure all staff have successfully completed their Training Program and are up to date on all new products and knowledge
  • Ensure daily, weekly and ad-hoc communication of information occurs to all necessary team members to allow them to carry out their tasks and responsibilities
  • Understands and complies with all health and safety regulations
  • Oversee and ensure all store notice boards are up to date and accurate
  • Fully understand your responsibilities as a certified store manager with regards to AGCO Requirements
  • Ensure store security systems are operational and utilized when necessary to investigate security or shrink concerns
  • Ensure security of guests and staff by enforcing the highest standard of behavior
  • Follow-up and report on any suspicious incidents that occur
  • Carry out any required store audits to maintain accuracy and compliance of company standards (security alarms, panic buttons, fire alarms and other).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in a supervisory/management role and ability to lead a team of 5+ team members
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check
  • Completed and valid CannSell certification
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and other computer applications
  • Detail oriented and able to handle cash, and operate all POS systems
  • Available to work any shifts including days, evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of and experience working with Cannabis industry would be considered an asset
  • Superior interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Strong organizational, communication, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Post-secondary education in Business Accounting courses or equivalent will be considered an asset
  • Prior work experience in a regulated environment is a definite asset (LCBO, Tobacco, Gaming)
  • Must have excellent attendance and professionalism
Essential Job Functions and Work Environment:
  • Must be able to lift or carry objects weighing 0-50 pounds during scheduled shift.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, reach, push/pull, walk and squat during scheduled shift
  • Must be able to work alone
  • Must be of age to sell Cannabis
  • Must be able to preform daily cleaning Duties that include but not limited to:
    • Pick up garbage in lot, lawn, sidewalks
      • Empty garbage’s in store and outside
      • Sweeping and mopping of floors
      • dusting shelves
      • Cleaning of Bathrooms is a must

Job Requirements:

  • Valid Cannsell Cannabis Retail Certification
  • Strong customer service skills
  • A clean criminal background check
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Availability for shift work alone or as part of a team any time between 8:00am to 11:30pm, Monday to Sunday
  • Basic skills in math and proficiency as a cashier
  • Extensive knowledge of cannabis products and accessories is an asset.
  • Completion of First Aid course is an asset.
  • Personal connection to the community is an asset.

Full- time hours range : 32 – 44 hours per week
