Job description

Blackbird Security Inc. is currently hiring a Human Resources Specialist to join our Vancouver, BC headquarters team.

The Human Resources Specialist will report to the National Human Resources Manager and Talent Acquisition Manager. The schedule is fully in-office, Monday to Friday (with the possibility of schedule changes to include one weekend day).

Role Overview:

As an HR Specialist at Blackbird Security, you will be a key player in implementing the company's Human Resources strategies and ensuring the effective implementation of HR policies and procedures. The successful candidate will have a strong background in HR practices, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders. Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and implementing of HR policies and procedures in alignment with organizational goals and legal regulations.
  • Conduct employee onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR-related matters.
  • Maintain organizational charts and detailed job descriptions along with salary records.
  • Provide guidance and support to members of the HR team.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and facilitate open enrollment processes.
  • Handle employee relations matters, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
  • Participate in and lead investigations regarding employee complaints, employment/labour standards cases, and internal compliance audits.
  • Participate in and lead occupational health and safety investigations and reports.
  • Lead performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, and development plans.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify training and development needs for employees.
  • Process employees’ queries and respond promptly.
  • Stay up-to-date and comply with changes in labor legislation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in HR to ensure the organization remains competitive.
  • Oversee HR record-keeping, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an HR Specialist or in a similar HR role.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in provinces across Canada.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience with unions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficient in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
