Full time Medical Office Assistant - Dr. John Graham

Summit Surgical is seeking a full-time Medical Office Assistant to join their highly dedicated team that supports 6 clinically-focussed General Surgeons. You’ll be committed to a culture and brand that values:

Reporting to and assisting Dr. Graham, a General Surgeon specializing in breast surgery, you will be highly organized, mature, professional in your approach to all interactions and a self-starter. Due to the nature of Dr. Graham’s patients, many of whom are affected by cancer, it is important you are considerate and empathetic towards all patients during this very challenging period in their life.
You will assume full responsibility for managing Dr. Graham’s surgical and medical schedule. Your written and verbal communication skills will be highly developed and you will have the ability to think ahead, anticipate needs and understand workflows.
Role Overview and Opportunities:
- Engage with patients via phone, email and in-person to ensure Dr. Graham’s schedule is running smoothly and at maximum efficiency.
- Manage all aspects of patient care including bookings for medical procedures, ensuring health tests are completed and rooming patients.
- Collaborate and communicate with other staff/ care providers to ensure effective patient care.
- Understand the urgency and flexibility required due to the fluidity of shifting surgical times, availability and surgical priorities.
- Ensure efficient and timely schedule of the clinic while managing patient expectations.
- Manage referrals, requisitions and results from other offices.
- Schedule and coordinate surgical procedures at various facilities.
- Manage patients using EMR (ACCURO).
- Process mail, faxes, scanning and filing.
- Other clinic duties as required.
Qualifications and Success Factors:
- MOA certified or equivalent training required.
- Two (2) years’ experience delivering prompt and efficient service to patients in a Medical Office and/or surgical setting.
- Proven ability to establish rapport and build relationships.
- Adaptable and flexible with exceptional ability to manage time efficiently and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven initiative and solution-oriented mind-set.
- Strong computer skills, for a chartless office.
- Fluent in EMR software. Experience with ACCURO would be an asset.
