Our team is currently looking for a Medical Office Assistant for an 18 month term with potential to extend into a permanent position. This position would start in February 2024 and would require a working interview for the successful candidate.
Job Description
- Greet and register patients upon arrival to the office
- Collection and organization of referrals for prioritization
- Scheduling appointment according to priority
- Contacting new patients 48-72 hours in advance to remind them of their appointment
- Booking appointments and procedures (operating room procedures, induction of labour, non-stress tests, ultrasounds, prenatal appointments etc)
- Accurate and efficient medical transcription
- Patient reception
- Responding/answering phone calls in a timely fashion
- Maintaining on-call schedules
- Maintaining patient medical records
- Processing the fax inbox in a timely manner
- Faxing as directed
- General office duties and helping to improve the efficiency of the Medical Office
- Collecting uninsured/self pay payments
- Bookkeeping -documenting and tracking
- Maintaining a professional friendly relationship with all patients and staff
- Accurate and timely communication of results/instructions to patients
Experience
- Proficiency in using EMR (electronic medical record) systems would be beneficial (ie. Indivicare)
- Post secondary education in Medical Office administration
- Previous experience working in a Medical Office
- Knowledge of medical terminology (Obstetrics/Gynecology) an asset
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced specialist environment
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $15.50-$21.72 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
