Medical Office Assistant

Our team is currently looking for a Medical Office Assistant for an 18 month term with potential to extend into a permanent position. This position would start in February 2024 and would require a working interview for the successful candidate.

Job Description

• Greet and register patients upon arrival to the office
• Collection and organization of referrals for prioritization
• Scheduling appointment according to priority
• Contacting new patients 48-72 hours in advance to remind them of their appointment
• Booking appointments and procedures (operating room procedures, induction of labour, non-stress tests, ultrasounds, prenatal appointments etc)
• Accurate and efficient medical transcription
• Patient reception
• Responding/answering phone calls in a timely fashion
• Maintaining on-call schedules
• Maintaining patient medical records
• Processing the fax inbox in a timely manner
• Faxing as directed
• General office duties and helping to improve the efficiency of the Medical Office
• Collecting uninsured/self pay payments
• Bookkeeping -documenting and tracking
• Maintaining a professional friendly relationship with all patients and staff
• Accurate and timely communication of results/instructions to patients

Experience

• Proficiency in using EMR (electronic medical record) systems would be beneficial (ie. Indivicare)
• Post secondary education in Medical Office administration
• Previous experience working in a Medical Office
• Knowledge of medical terminology (Obstetrics/Gynecology) an asset
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced specialist environment

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $15.50-$21.72 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Education:

• Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

• Dental receptionist: 1 year (preferred)
