Shaz'z Party Helpers is hiring! We are looking for experienced Prep/kitchen helper to join our Event Staff Team throughout the Lower Mainland. We are hiring specifically for Mission, Abbotsford, Aldergrove, Maple Ridge, Burnaby and surrounding areas
Our kitchen Helper will be responsible for setting up food and beverage service for private and corporate events, while providing excellent customer service to our clientele.
We have permanent part-time positions available throughout the year. We are looking for an ambitious, experienced Prep/kitchen help to assist in the preparation of catered food, host prepared dishes in the kitchen. You’ll perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and preparing appys heated to serve, A great prep cook will be quick and diligent and willing to improve on the job. You will able to follow instructions as well as all health and safety rules in the kitchen. The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Follow the prep list created by hosts, heating and preparing appy;s
- Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
- Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.
- Prepare simple dishes such as mixing salads, making platters or cheese boards
- Replenishing food, storing leftovers iin food sanitizing containerss, taking out trash etc.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
Skills
Proven experience as prep cook
- Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
- Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
- A team player with good communication skills
- Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
- Very good physical condition and endurance
- High school diploma or equivalent is desirable; Training from a culinary school will be an asset
- Must have Food Safe Certificate
Duties and Responsibilities
Ability to work weekends daytime, evenings, and holidays.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 4 years food experience
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand for 100% of shift
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and late nights
Self-motivated with demonstrated superior skills in customer service and organization
Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving and time-management skills
Detail oriented, ability to perform tasks in a timely manner and follow instructions
Vehicle REQUIRED.
