Role

Reporting to the Portfolio Director (PD), the Sr. HRBP works as a member of a team of human resource professionals responsible for providing a full suite of human resource (HR) services and consultation to support portfolio clients.

In this role you will work closely with the PD and Executive Team members (Deputy Minister, Assistant Deputy Minister, and Executive Directors) on strategic human resource issues management, implementation of complex HR strategies and, and corporate human resource programs to support the workforce needs of a department(s).

  • Your political acumen and relationship building skills will position you for success when partnering directly with client Executive Managers and Assistant Deputy Ministers on complex issues management and resolution of these challenging matters.
  • You will use your excellent written and verbal communication skills to support the PD with briefings and presentations to Deputy Ministers and/or Executive Teams.
  • Your strong leadership and influence will be put to good use when implementing PSC priorities and initiatives working partnership with Centres of Excellence and your portfolio's Executive Team members.
  • You will build up your network while you contribute to the development of HR programs in collaboration with Sr. HRBPs across portfolio teams, PSC's Policy and Service Centres.
  • You will keep your operational skills fresh by managing a small client portfolio, providing HR consulting and employee relations advice.
  • You will use your coaching skills to support the portfolio leadership team with coaching and mentoring team members as they enhance their own skillsets in your area of expertise.
Qualifications

Requirements:

University graduation in Business, Commerce, Human Resources, Labour Relations or a related field, and a minimum of five years of related experience as an HR generalist is required. A breadth of experience interpreting and applying human resource policies, legislation, directives or other governance frameworks typically found in a unionized environment is required.

Equivalencies:

A related two-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution and a minimum of seven years of related experience, or a related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and a minimum of eight years of related experience. Additional related education will also be considered as an equivalency for related experience.

DRIVE FOR RESULTS: Understands department and PSC objectives related to strategic and operational matters. Demonstrates accountability, influence, and PSC collaboration with Policy and Service Centers to achieve goals and deliver on multiple priorities concurrently. Forecasts potential challenges, negotiates solutions, and removes barriers. Provides courageous advice and options for leadership when faced with employment relationship concerns.

DEVELOP SELF AND OTHERS: Provides effective leadership, coaching and development amongst team members and clients.

Salary

$2,998.79 to $3,963.71 bi-weekly. ($78,268.41 - $103,452/ year)

Notes

Current vacancies are in Edmonton, however future vacancies may occur throughout the province and are predominantly located in Edmonton and Calgary. Candidates living or willing to relocate to other areas within the province are encouraged to apply.

The schedule for the position is Monday through Friday, 36.25 hours per week. A standard schedule is 08:15 to 16:30.

Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
