Overview
Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, you will primarily be responsible for supporting various HR functions within the organization, including payroll completion bi-weekly, administration of company benefits and RRSP’s, employee relations and compliance. You will have a strong understanding of HR best practices and be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with employees and management to drive HR initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Process and manage the end-to-end payroll cycle, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
· Calculate and process employee salaries, deductions, and benefits accurately and on time.
· Complete entries in our HRIS and payroll software for commissions, bonuses, expenses, retroactive payments, and employee purchases.
· Collaborate with the finance team to reconcile payroll-related accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
· Stay up to date with changes in payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
· Assist in the recruitment process by processing new hire paperwork once completed.
· Support HR initiatives and projects as assigned.
· Assist with employee benefit programs, including medical, pension, and other perks.
· Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations related to attendance and leave.
· Stay informed about labor laws and HR regulations, ensuring the organization’s compliance.
· Generate and analyze HR and payroll reports for management review.
· Prepare and submit required government reports and findings.
· Assist in the resolution of employee relations issues by working closely with the HR team.
· Utilize HRIS and payroll software to maintain accurate records and streamline processes.
· Participate in employee activities and assist with employee engagement initiatives as needed.
· Complete WSIB’s monthly earnings reports and ensure updates are made for contract workers and payroll deduction amounts.
· Process month-end duties, including accruals or reversals for vacation and WSIB, employee counts, KPIs, and other reports as needed.
· Complete year-end audit requirements and process T4 information.
· Act as primary payroll contact for Service Canada.
Skills, Education, and/or Experience
The following are education and experience criteria used to evaluate the suitability of the HR & Payroll Coordinator Profile or candidates for the position:
· Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, payroll administration, related field, or equivalent experience.
· Proven experience as an HR & Payroll Coordinator or similar role.
· Proficiency in Ceridian’s Dayforce required.
· HRIS (Human Resources Information System) familiarity is strongly recommended.
· Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
· Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
· High attention to detail and accounting acumen.
· Professional level of written and verbal communication required.
· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
· Able to work proficiently in a team-oriented setting, as well as independently.
