The Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Festival (AVABF) is an 88-year tradition in the Annapolis Valley. The AVABF Board of Directors is seeking a seasonal Office Manager. This role is central to the effective functioning of the Apple Blossom Festival. The Office Manager supports the overall functioning of the AVABF Office and performs other duties as required. Primary areas of responsibility include the following:
- Creating a functional and supportive office environment
- Managing office supplies and equipment
- Opening and distributing mail
- Maintaining website accuracy
- Maintaining event and sponsorship databases
- Processing volunteer applications
- Communicating with board members
- Fielding general email inquiries
- Assisting in coordination of Festival events
- Researching and assisting in preparing Grant applications
- The Office Manager position is one where you will work independently
- The Office Manager is an ex-officio member of the AVABF Volunteer Board of Directors
- The Office Manager will be working with a volunteer Board of Directors in various operational directorships for Festival.
- The Office Manager assists, as required, other directors with components of their portfolios.
Skills Required
- Experience working within a non-profit organization and liaising with a Board of Directors
- Strong knowledge of the Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Festival would be considered an asset
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Detail-oriented
- Excellent computer skills - trouble shooting, software, e-mail, Excel, etc.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Comfortable working with databases and spreadsheets
- Conscientious, energetic, motivated, team orientated, friendly and with a sense of humour
- Understand the concept of "work smarter, not harder" coordinating and organizing day to day operations.
The position is a 35-hour-per-week seasonal position (February to June) reporting to the AVABF Board Executive. The successful applicant will have the option of continued seasonal employment upon satisfactory performance. The compensation for this position:
Terms: Seasonal; full-time (35 hours per week) at $15/hour, beginning February 2023
Hours: Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm (flexibility for hours; to be negotiated with the successful applicant and the Executive). Some evening/weekend work will be required during and leading up to festival events.
