We are seeking an experienced Accounting Assistant to join our team. The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for providing support to the accounting department by performing various administrative and clerical tasks. This is a great opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and has a strong understanding of accounting principles.
```Duties```
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
-monthly balancing of payables
- journal voucher preparation
- cheque requests
- EFT preparation
- Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and answering phone calls
- accounts payable report for Council
- encroachment invoicing
- utility billing
-assist with taxation
- bank deposits
- processing of tax payments
- back up for Administrative Assistant/Reception
- provide support to Finance Manager
- administrative duties as required
```Experience```
- Business or Office Administration or equivalent required
- 2 years previous experience in an accounting or finance role is required
- Proficiency in accounting software such as MuniSoft ERP is preferred
- Municipal Government Experience an asset
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office applications is required
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
