SUMMARY
The Landings Surgical Centre, located on the beautiful Halifax Waterfront is seeking a full-time Medical Office administrator. The successful candidate for this position will be efficient, hardworking, and organized. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and should be able to multitask and work well under pressure. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, are required. Candidates should have a professional and friendly demeanor and a passion for exceptional patient care
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interact professionally with patients, colleagues, clinicians, and the public.
- Administer confidential patient records
- Collect information and update electronic medical records
- Reception duties including answering incoming calls, ideally in real time, scheduling appointments for two surgeons, two clinic nurses, one aesthetician
- Accept payments via cheque, cash, debit and credit card.
- Monitor the clinic email account(s) and respond in a timely way
- Routine bookkeeping: issuing receipts and invoices
- Conduct patient traffic control and act as an information desk for patients.
- Book follow-up appointments for patients as per instruction
- Ensure that patients complete proper paperwork.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents as required.
- Maintain office supplies and ensure the overall professional appearance of the office.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduated from a recognized Medical Office Assistant program (required).
- Recent Medical Office experience (1-3 years, preferred).
- Proficiency in use of technology, ideally Mac based technology, with competencies in using Microsoft Office Suite Software (Word and Excel), Adobe, Windows Fax and Scan ideally
- Experience handling confidential records and sensitive information.
- Ability to prioritize duties and manage time effectively in a busy clinic environment.
- Additional skills in bookkeeping, payroll, medical transcription, considered an asset.

Salary: $17.00-$21.00 per hour
