Medical Office Administrative Assistant

Our collaborative healthcare team is seeking a fulltime Medical Office Administrative Assistant. This will be a fulltime roll, contingent on a 3-month probationary period.

Island Family Healthcare is a busy, friendly, and patient focused workplace consisting of physicians, nurse practitioners, LPNs, a family practice nurse, social worker, and dietician, as well as our administrative team. The ideal candidate for this role would enjoy a fast-paced work environment and demonstrate excellent collaborative, communication, and organizational skills.

Duties:

- Answering patient inquiries both in person and over the phone

- Scheduling and managing patient appointments

- Working with the electronic medical record (Accuro EMR) to file reports and complete routine administrative tasks

- Communicating messages between patients and medical staff

- Coordinating and helping with the flow of patient clinics

- Maintaining patient confidentiality

- Performing other duties as needed to ensure the efficient and productive operation of the clinic

Requirements:

- Previous administrative experience (minimum 1 year), preferably Medical Office

- Post-Secondary diploma in a recognized office administration or secretarial program required

- Medical terminology course would be an asset

- Computer knowledge is essential, including typing ability

- Previous experience with electronic medical records would be an asset

- Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills essential

Location: Health Park, 45 Weatherbee Road, Sydney, NS

Schedule: Monday to Friday, In Person/Office
