I am looking for a medical office administrator/assistant with excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to patient care and this office. I am a single OBGYN physician in a private office. There is an option for starting part time and potentially transitioning to full time in future. I am looking for a candidate who is able to make a long term commitment to this position. This office is located conveniently on the TTC subway line, and parking is available for a fee. Due to its downtown location, food stores and shopping are also easily available.
- Greet and check-in patients, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience
- Schedule appointments and manage the office calendar
- Answer phone calls and emails and respond to inquiries in a professional manner
- Verify insurance information and assist with billing and payment processing
- Maintain patient records and update electronic medical records (EMR) system - Accuro Electronic Medical System. Training on this system will be provided, but previous experience would be ideal.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents
- Coordinate referrals to specialists and follow up on patient care as needed
- Collaborate with healthcare provider to ensure smooth operations of the office.
- Maintain a clean office, cleaning office equipment including sterilization of instruments at end of day
- Become trained and independent using online hospital booking systems to book surgeries, antenatal appointments, referrals for patients at Michael Garron Hospital
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a medical or dental office setting is preferred
- Proficiency in using office software and computer/internet literate
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) system Accuro Electronic Medical Records
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures, specific to OBGYN is preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong ability to take initiative
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with phone systems and handling patient inquiries. Experience with managing patients with complex problems, experience with conflict management
