We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative Recreation Coordinator to join our Sports & Recreation team and make a lasting impact on our forward-thinking organization and rapidly-growing community!

Committed to the guiding values of the Town of Innisfil’s Strategic Plan 2030, the Recreation Coordinator will take a ‘Community First’ approach to developing, implementing, and evaluating all community recreational programs and outreach and will be responsible for:


  • Leading the Sports & Recreation Services area in the training of seasonal staff and program instructors
  • Overseeing recreation programming including programs for preschool, children, youth, general interests, fitness and actively aging; developing, and implementing new programs including conducting feasibility studies, evaluating program costs, and developing program fees
  • Encouraging community participation in recreation and leisure activities through marketing, outreach, and public engagement
  • Reducing barriers to recreation programs in order to provide a more accessible and inclusive recreation environment for individuals with additional abilities
  • Recruiting and guiding seasonal staff, including camp, mobile youth centre, seniors active living centre, and contracted program instructors
  • Conducting staff and instructor evaluations on an ongoing basis to ensure HIGH FIVE quality standards are being met within the programming setting
  • Researching revenue-generating resources and community partnerships; liaising with the community regarding program and partnership opportunities to develop options for residents, businesses, and community groups
Job Requirements

The preferred candidate holds:


  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in business administration, recreation & leisure, or related discipline. Minimum three (3) to five (5) years’ experience within a recreation environment.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in design/development and delivery of recreation programs, drop-ins, events, community development, and youth & senior center operations.
  • Must possess valid First Aid CPR C and AED certification, High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development, Quest 2 and Quest 1 certifications, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) certification.
  • The following certifications are assets: Mental Health First Aid training, Additional HIGH FIVE Certifications (Principles of Health Aging, Strengthening Children’s Mental Health, Healthy Minds for Healthy Children), Positive Youth Development training.
  • Due to the responsibilities of the position, a police information check, including vulnerable sector screening, satisfactory to the Town of Innisfil is required.
  • Valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s license and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
  • Availability to attend evening and weekend meetings or other events, as required.
