The Recreation Coordinator will oversee the Recreation department relating to developing, implementing and evaluating leisure programs and services that will meet the psychological, physical, intellectual and spiritual needs of all residents.
The qualified candidate will have some experience with event planning and decorating, photography, video editing and online marketing. Must be out-going and willing to write about the interesting people we care for.
Provide opportunities wherever possible to involve residents in the planning, provision and evaluation of leisure, educational and fundraising activities. Assess the individual resident needs and provide ongoing documentation of resident progress.
Facilitate the activities of the Residents Council & meetings. Promote the activity program through monthly activity calendars, newsletters, coverage of events by local newspapers and social media.
Qualifications and Skills: A community college diploma/university degree in marketing or recreation preferred. Certificates in management, online advertising, gerontology or volunteer management an asset. Previous experience working with seniors, preferably in Retirement. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, creativity and high motivation. Must be fun, flexible, patient and excellent communication skills. Must be willing to provide VSPC (Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance) and negative TB Test.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a nursing home or assisted living facility is preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care and experience working with seniors is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members.
- Ability to plan and organize recreational programs that meet the diverse needs of seniors.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with individuals who may have physical or cognitive limitations.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address any challenges that may arise during activities.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules.

Salary: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
