Position Overview:
We are currently seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our Calgary Business Services Team. As the Accounting Assistant, you will play a valuable and crucial role in contributing to the financial and corporate function and well-being for all divisions of Great Western Interiors. This position offers a great opportunity for individuals looking to grow and utilize their experience.
Responsibilities:
- Provide general administrative support to the company’s Senior Accountant and Administration Manager.
- Assist with full cycle Accounts Receivable, including preparing and processing invoicing lists, invoices and submitting invoices (digital and hardcopy).
- Accessing builder portals for A/R documents, receiving payments, and managing overdue accounts.
- Assist with completing accounts payable. Including posting Purchase Orders, Bills, Credit Card transactions, EFT payments and printing hard-copy cheques.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures. Including inter-company transactions.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements.
- Assisting Senior Accountant with payroll processing using payroll software. including setting up new employees, distributing paystubs and completing payroll filing.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate digital and hardcopy financial records and filing.
- Support in tech stack implementation plan including transitioning accounting platform and new resource planning software.
- Insurance and Fleet management includes adding and deleting fleet drivers from insurance, managing certificates of insurance.
- Completing WCB reports and filing.
- Support in the creation of Standard Operating Procedures for the Business Services Team.
- Adherence to company policies and procedures
Requirements:
- Previous experience in bookkeeping, Accounts Payable/Receivable or Accounting Admin preferred. Accounting or bookkeeping certification is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices. Familiarity with financial services and terminology.
- Proficiency in using accounting software, experience with QuickBooks Online is considered an asset.
- Tech Skills – General understanding of Tech Stack Implementation, Hardware and Software considered to be an asset.
- Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word and SharePoint.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work meticulously to achieve high-quality results.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to take direction and work effectively alongside a team.
- Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
