The Aspen region covers several communities, including Athabasca, Barrhead, Wabasca, McLennan, and Westlock. Each community provides ample opportunity for recreational, club, and community events all year round.
The Aspen Primary Care Network (PCN) first became operational in 2010, serving three communities. Since then, we have grown to include partnership between family physicians in Athabasca, Westlock, Barrhead, Swan Hills, Kinuso, High Prairie and Wabasca, Alberta. In total, the PCN has 43 participating physicians serving approximately 30,000 residents within our region.
Our priorities are to facilitate health promotion and disease prevention, and to enable successful self-management of chronic diseases and conditions.
The Aspen Primary Care Network is looking for a temporary Accounting Administrator. This is an autonomous job position that requires an individual who takes initiative and is proactive in managing the finances. The successful candidate must be organized and focused in a fast paced, evolving environment.
- Provide accounting support to the ED for the Aspen PCN
- Prepare bank deposits, journal entry postings, and statements
- Reconcile bank accounts within 1 week of month end
- Daily entry of vendor invoices in Sage 50
- Reconcile grant funding reports on a monthly basis
- Provide timely assistance and support to the Executive Director
- Provide support and document accounting processing and procedures
- Inform management and compile monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports/summaries on activity areas
- Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all operating and investment accounts
- Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, expense reports, and other disbursements as required and ensures these transactions are recorded in accordance with CGAAP for health care/not for profit organizations
- Coordinates and prepares accounts receivable and ensures accurate and timely management of billings, application of cash receipts, and other receivables as required
- Reconciles grant funding to expenses incurred and provides Program Reports on monthly basis
- 5 years related financial or accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare environment
- Can be working towards CPA designation or recently designated
- Strong working knowledge of Sage 50
- Receive, act on, or re-direct confidential correspondence, inquiries, and issues
- Accounting designation, or pursuit of, is a desirable requirement (e.g. CPA)
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Accounting) is a desirable requirement, or equivalency in experience
- Advanced Excel knowledge and skills required
- Ability to effectively communicate in writing, in person, on the telephone, and electronically
- Proof of a clean criminal record is required
- Completion of reference
- Must have own vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Preference will be given to candidates residing in Westlock & the surrounding area
