As the Leader, Civilian Talent Acquisition, you will provide leadership to the Talent Acquisition unit within the Calgary Police Service (CPS). You will also apply recruitment practices, policies and provide continuous improvement to ensure the alignment of CPS recruitment strategies are met. Specific duties include:
  • Develop strategic recruitment plans in collaboration with Calgary Police Service senior management.
  • Provide strategic guidance to Executive members of the CPS on developing and utilizing recruitment and diversity initiatives.
  • Support the development and evaluation of recruitment programs in other functional areas of sworn and civilian recruitment, training and promotion.
  • Oversee business process reviews, improving efficiency and effectiveness via quality assurance and process improvement.
  • Lead the team to ensure productivity, scheduling and budget objectives are met. 
  • Develop and motivate employees through regular coaching and feedback that lead to improved results.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment. Authorize overtime, delegate and prioritize work assignments.
  • Establish and monitor performance of the unit ensuring quality client service. Run data integrity reports and take corrective action as required.
 
Qualifications 
  • A degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources or a related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered. 
  • Experience using PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) or equivalent Human Resources Information System is required. 
  • Previous leadership experience is required.
  • Previous experience in a unionized, law enforcement or paramilitary environment is preferred.
  • Experience in change management, performance management and employee engagement would also be considered as assets.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires strong analytical thinking skills, coaching and development, conflict resolution and team building and teamwork. An effective communicator with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage resources.

  • An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECAfor confirmation of equivalent credentials.

Compensation: Level E $83,059 - 125,413 per annum
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
