Kensington Diagnostic Imaging Centre:

Kensington Diagnostic Imaging Centre, an entity of Kensington Health, is a community-based radiology clinic providing general x-ray, ultrasound, mammography, biopsies and bone mineral density services.

Position Overview:

Kensington Diagnostic Imaging Centre is looking for a permanent full-time Medical Receptionist to join our team. This position will report to the Manager, Kensington Diagnostic Imaging Centre.

The Medical Receptionist is responsible for the scheduling and registration of patients for diagnostic imaging procedures, and the timely delivery of diagnostic imaging reports to referring physicians as well as handling inquiries from patients and referring physicians.

Responsibilities include:

  • Treat patients and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Provide a consistently excellent level of customer service to all patients and referring physicians.
  • Schedule patient procedures according to protocols for each imaging modality.
  • Explain and ensure all patients understand scheduled procedures and associated preparation requirements.
  • Administer and process patient information and requisitions in Radiology Information System, ensuring accuracy and completeness of patient and procedure information entered. Work with applicable staff to remedy any issues encountered.
  • Assist the Patient Flow Coordinator in ensuring all patient procedures are performed in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure the timely distribution of final diagnostic reports to referring physicians.
  • Facilitate the delivery of STAT diagnostic imaging reports to referring physicians.
  • Handle all inquiries via phone and fax from both patients and referring physicians and engage appropriate clinic staff to provide information or resolve issues as necessary.
  • Provide copies of patient images on CD to patients and referring physicians when necessary.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
  • Contributes as a team player and maintains a positive work environment.
  • Actively participates in and adheres to the Quality Assurance standards and program.
  • Complies with all Kensington Diagnostic Imaging Centre policies, procedures and protocols.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • 1 year of experience in a medical office
  • Familiarity with RIS-PACS systems an asset.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Computer skills; MS Office, typing 50 wpm.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Well-organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Fluency in Portuguese an asset.

Required Professional Designation/Certificate:

  • Medical Office Administration Diploma.

Remuneration:

  • Based on experience + competitive benefits package.

Pension Plan:

  • Effective start date, full-time employees qualify to enroll in HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan).

Shift: 7:15am to 3:45pm

Location: Downtown Toronto.

COVID-19 Precautions:

  • Candidate must be fully vaccinated and willing to take 3rd dose if/when eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination:

- Successful candidates will have to provide Kensington Health with a proof of COVID-19 vaccination (religious and medical exemptions may apply).

  • Active screening for all staff, residents, and visitors.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE):

- Masks must be worn at all times except when eating (new masks are provided when mask becomes soiled).

- Eye protection (goggles or face shield) required whenever within 6 feet of a resident or there is potential that they will be within 6 feet of the resident.

- Gowns provided when entering the room of an isolated resident (most likely not applicable for this position).

- N95 required when in contact with positive residents.

  • Social distancing, floor marks and room signage.
  • Increased hand hygiene.
  • Enhanced cleaning of high touch areas.
  • Cohorting staff.
  • Audits- universal masking, donning, and doffing, 4 moments of hand hygiene.
  • Infection control training.
  • Staff who are ill, who come in contact with an ill person, or travelled, are not permitted to report for work and must isolate until cleared by Occupational Health or Toronto Public Health.
  • Waste is taken outdoors for pick-up to reduce the need for drivers to come in.
  • Deliveries are left outside by companies to reduce the need for drivers to come in. Kensington staff to move products into the building.
  • Any positive staff or resident cases are reported to Toronto Public Health who directs on interventions that we must be implemented.
