As a Building Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for a wide variety of property maintenance duties for the Infrastructure Division (ID) of the Calgary Police Service. Primary duties include:
- Ensure CPS facilities meet predetermined standards for:
- Exterior Building Maintenance including site clean-up, landscaping & irrigation support, specialized cleaning (gun ranges), snow removal and ice from walkways.
- Interior Building Maintenance including wall repairs, flooring repairs, general plumbing repairs, carpentry repairs, basic electrical support and ceiling system repairs/replacements.
- Complete facilities work orders which may include visually inspecting sites and filling out reports, identifying problems, repairing and replacing items involving minor electrical, flooring, drywall, furniture, doors & hardware, painting, plumbing, carpentry, fencing/gates and irrigation system repairs.
- Assist with the set-up or relocation of offices and personnel as well as set-ups for meeting rooms and special events/functions.
- A High School Diploma or equivalency (e.g., GED) plus a minimum of 2 years related experience in Facility Maintenance.
- Exposure to carpentry, electrical and plumbing with the ability to trace waterlines to the shut-off and a basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience operating snow clearing/landscaping equipment, elevated lift platforms, skid steer equipment, power tools and power equipment would be an asset.
- Ability to coordinate with contractors and ability to lift 50lbs.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) will be considered an asset.
- A 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate (or provincial equivalency) or a Building Operator A certificate (or provincial equivalency) will be considered an asset.
- You are an excellent communicator with relationship building skills. You are able to anticipate challenges and prioritize urgent issues, optimizing time and resources while making effective decisions and providing excellent customer service.
- An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
